Inspiration
The British girl, Iris Grace Halmshaw, was diagnosed with autism at the age of three. She couldn’t talk at that time, and avoided eye contact with people. She was extremely sensitive and afraid of the outside world. After trying a lot of treatments, her parents found that as long as Iris picked up the brush, she calmed down and devoted herself to the creation. Children’s painting is like angel’s handwriting, full of innocence, romance and softness. The dribs and drabs and color blocks explain the simple but wonderful inner world of children.
Pattern
The understanding of color for children is simple, and they pay little attention to the rich and layered grey tones in life. In their eyes, red is just red; green is just green; blue is just blue. They never classify red into cold red and warm red, and they exaggerate the color. For example, they use pure lake blue to describe the blue ocean, and use jester red or bittersweet to express the sun. They will not color the cockscomb with green. Thus they tend to use color-blocking and original colors with high purity to brighten the picture, creating a rough, sprightly, plain and passionate style. The innocent, childish and rhythmic color is unified with its look.
Craft
Due to physiological characteristics and knowledge limitations, kids tend to draw objects out of proportion. Animals drawn by kids have big heads and big eyes. Because kids tend to pay attention to the head and eyes. When a mother leans over to hold the baby, the baby is always staring into her eyes. Kids cannot have a good command of their strength to draw the object, but they are trying to, thus some lines with unique fun are created. Printing, embroidery or the 3D dolls can be adopted to interpret these funny and lively patterns.
