‘Grounded’ is the first trend story of S/S 2023 Shanghai SPINEXPO. The periods of lockdown have heightened our perception of time and duration, and out subsequent emotional exhaustion has increased the appeal of a simple lifestyle away from the hustle and bustle of city life. This trend is often associated with fear in the face of financial difficulties and the need to tighten the purse strings, but it is also the consequ-ence of changes in our working conditions, with new means of communication enabling us to work from home.
The yarns of Grounded present a dried texture. Cracked ground, fluid rivers and undulant desert are expressed through moisture-wicking, fast-dry cotton-linen and wool.
Fabrics show the features of natural landform. With plant roots, dry grounds and mossy rocks, Grounded expresses the thinking toward nature and ecology and the pursuit of co-existence. These natural scenes can stimulate the desire for the free wildness.
Primitive dyeing and braiding are combined with modernized, simple silhouettes to develop the garments of Grounded. The distressed effect on the edges of knitwear can present a more natural form.
